Karen M. Tokarczyk:
Queen of Martyrs:
Rm 19 2nd Grade:
My name is Karen Tokarczyk and this is my 2nd year teaching 2nd grade at Queen of Martyrs
and my first year teaching 3rd and 4th grade Science. I graduated from St. Xavier University in December of 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.
I earned my Paraprofessional degree from Moraine Valley Community College in
Palos Hills. I have three children; a Sophmore at Argo Community High School, along
with a 5th grader and 4thgrader who also attend Queen of Martyrs.
I am blessed to have been given the privilege to guide your child’s daily learning
of the Archdiocese of Chicago Office of Catholic Schools (OCS) standards and to also
help them prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and their 1st Holy Communion. My teaching approach is to create a learning environment where your child is not only
actively engaged in their learning, yet enjoying themselves as well. I work to make
material relevant and provide my students with choices that complement their learning
styles. I like to continuously offer opportunities for the students to reflect on their
own work with simple questions of “What do you think went well with that task?” or”
How would you do this differently next time?” It is my goal to focus on what a child
can do vs what they can’t when helping them to learn and grow as they rise to meet
new challenges. Through our religious studies, I intend to not only help them learn
about their faith but to develop their own relationship with God that will lead them
beyond my classroom.
I look forward to an amazing and exciting year where I will encourage your child to
"Dream Big, Work Hard, Have Fun, & Be Kind to Everyone!"
