What a wonderful day for a Nature Walk! QM 8th graders escorted our brand new Kindergarten Wildcats on a walk through nature right around school. Fall is awesome!

Mr. Mike Madera from St. Lawrence HS visited QM to talk with our 7th and 8th grade Wildcats. High School is coming!

Don't forget, THIS WEDNESDAY 10/20 is Picture ReTake Day!!!

What a pep rally! How about our cheerleaders! Talk about getting some air! So proud of all of our high flying Wildcats!

Congratulations to QM's 8th grade girls basketball team. They played hard and took 2nd place in the consolidation round in this weekends 35th annual Great McAuley shootout. #RestoreTheRoar #MartyrsPride

Today we celebrated the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. The Primary Grade students brought their favorite stuffed animals to school to be blessed by Father Marty. The children learned about this gentle saint and his love for all creation, especially animals! Father Marty visited our classrooms, even the gym where our preschool children were in class asking the students the type of stuffed animal they brought and what their names were. He then blessed them with Holy Water and told them Jesus would watch over them and keep them safe. The children loved bringing their stuffed animals to class for the day!

McDONALD'S FOR DINNER ON THURSDAY - OCT 7!!! It's pretty easy - all you have to do is to buy dinner at the McDonalds at 10320 S Kedzie Avenue between 4p - 8p and say "I'm with Queen of Martyrs" (show them this photo on your phone) and 20% of the profits from your order will go to Queen of Martyrs!
McDonalds is donating a case of pies for us so all pie purchases and tips will go to Queen of Martyrs as well! Please note that both must be cash only.
Two things to remember - 1) this is a Drive Thru only event and 2) pie purchases and tips can be cash only.
Bah-da-bah-bah-bah-bahhhhhh

The first QM NJHS meeting of the year is in the books! NJHS will be collecting next week for Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge for their 1st service project.

They're different kinds of Chicago bears! Our3 year old QM preschool students in Mrs. Bujanski’s class celebrated Bb is for bear day! The students have been talking all about the letter Bb - the sound and words that begin with the letter. To celebrate the day, the children brought in their favorite bear, made a bear hat and craft, and learned the song going on a bear hunt! We also read two stories about bears. Restore the roar indeed!

Our first and second grade Wildcats ending first P.E. where all games emphasized water safety

The 3 year old QM preschoolers have been talking all about apples! We learned the parts of an apple and tasted apples. We made a class graph to see which apple is liked the most and red was the class favorite! Is red your favorite too?

QM's third graders are partner reading a story on "Protecting Our National Parks." Students are exploring their understanding of the weekly essential question in Reading, How do landmarks help us understand our country's history?

Mrs Gagner’s First Grade class worked so hard last week and for all of their hard work...they were rewarded with a fun stem activity! They watched the video Chicka, Chicka, Boom, Boom which is a story of how all the letters of the Alphabet climbed a coconut tree. The class was given an empty paper towel roll, six of the wide craft sticks and several magnetic letters and then had to create their own Chicka, Chicka Boom, Boom tree. They worked with a partner and figured out how to get as many letters on the tree as possible. Everyone had fun and learned a lot!

We're still looking for some help with our QM Athletics. It's a great way to give back and the kids appreciate it more than you know! Interested parties contact Gina ASAP!

Our student council at Queen of Martyrs takes their service very seriously. Student officers and homeroom representatives cleaned up the Saint Joseph’s lot from debris to make sure it is clean and safe. Great job student council!

Mrs Gagner’s first grade class started centers this week. Each week a new center will be added until there are about 4 to 5 centers. The class will work in centers while Mrs Gagner works with small groups. The class is not allowed to interrupt Mrs Gagner when she has her Wizard hat on. The children learned how to partner read. They love to partner read and ask to do it all the time. #QMFirstGradeRocks

We are having a great week this week!
